Why I Started Stitching: The Story Behind My Handmade Shop
Hey there, and welcome! I’m Rachelle — a big fan of gardening, DIY projects, coffee, and creating things with my two hands and a slightly overworked sewing machine.
If you’ve stumbled onto my little handmade corner of the internet, hi! I’m so glad you're here. Whether you came looking for a cute bookmark, a unique tote bag, or just fell down a rabbit hole of fabric-related goodness, this is where it all begins — with a story, a scrap of fabric, and a love for making useful things beautiful.
So... how did this all start?
I didn’t exactly wake up one day and decide to open a shop — though wouldn’t that be a great story? This all began with a simple love for crafting and a desire to make gifts that were personal, practical, and just a little bit extra.
At first, it was just little things for family and friends — a painted wine glass here, a quirky apron there, a Christmas stocking that was slightly crooked (but full of love). The more I made, the more people started asking, “Where’d you get that?” and then, “Wait... can you make me one?”
Before I knew it, I had piles of supplies, a full heart, and a very persuasive inner voice saying, “You should really open a shop.”
So here we are.
What I Make (aka What You’ll Find Around Here)
Everything in my shop is handmade by me, right down to the last stitch. I make fabric book covers (because books deserve outfits too), sturdy tote bags and purses, bookmarks that are fun to look at, aprons for kitchen chaos or crafting, and yes — Christmas stockings that are now delightfully symmetrical.
I carefully choose the fabrics myself, reinforce and line the items for durability, and ship them out from a smoke-free, pet-free home (though I’ve definitely found thread in my coffee more than once).
Why Handmade?
Because handmade means heart. It means someone actually thought about every cut and stitch and ribbon and snap. It’s slower, sure — but also more thoughtful. And to me, that’s worth it.
When you buy something handmade, you’re not just getting a product. You’re getting time, care, a little creative chaos, and a lot of joy — all wrapped up in one-of-a-kind fabric.
What’s Next?
I’ll be sharing more here on the blog — behind-the-scenes peeks, upcoming releases, gift ideas, and any DIY or crafts I try out!
If you're still reading, thank you. Seriously. You’re the reason I do this.
Now go browse, shop, or just hang out. I'm glad you're here 💛
With a thread in my hair and joy in my heart,
– Rachelle
